The Sewall House Yoga Retreat is not only welcoming to those seeking a personalized, tranquil retreat – the historic, six-bedroom home is also friendly to the environment. The house, which has been holding personalized yoga and nature retreats since 1997, composts, uses bulk products including toiletries and serves locally sourced vegetarian meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The vegetarian menu is mostly organic and prepared on the premises and includes vegan and gluten-free offerings. At the Lake Morey Resort, they consider themselves to be not only stewards of an historic inn but also stewards of their beautiful piece of Vermont’s environment. To that end, the resort has a strong environmental policy intended to reduce its impact on the environment and create a cleaner future for all. That means EV chargers, solar generation for some cottages, an investment in a solar farm and the resort-wide recycling of plastic, tin, aluminum, cardboard, mixed paper and glass. The resort composts 19.5 tons of food waste a year, uses LED and CFL lighting in 90 percent of its buildings and environmentally efficient toilets and showers as well as Earth-friendly cleaning products and a resort-wide towel re-use program.
